Senior Support Worker

Senior support worker staff are an important part of White Leaf Support and provide hands on support to our service users whilst also providing a line management link between support staff and Team Leaders and taking on senior day to day responsibilities in our teams

Other elements of the role:

  • Supporting people with autism and or learning disabilities and some associated mental health problems, many of who display complex behaviours, including communication and social difficulties, may at times display behaviours which challenge services in varying degrees.

  • To deliver high-quality person-centred support in line with the values and philosophy of the organisation.

  • To lead and encourage teams on shift to support individuals professionally and appropriately.

  • To provide and maintain a high standard of support, role modelling and personal care for each service user and to be a positive role model for support workers.

  • To adhere to each service user’s support plan, risk assessments and support file and to add to it and use it as a working document to inform staff of any changes to the person’s support needs.

  • To support service users with daily living skills with an aim to enhance their independence.

The Candidate:

  • Experience of acting in a senior role, as a role model or mentoring people.

  • Mandatory training including first aid and food and hygiene. Any relevant NVQ’s or QCF’s.

  • H/S awareness and ability to carry out daily and weekly checks in and around the residence. Awareness of infection control and COSHH-Good standard of literacy and numeracy skills. Ability to complete in-house documents including reviews and key worker sessions.

  • Be able to demonstrate an interest in autism, mental health and supporting adults with learning disabilities.

  • Willingness to learn how to manage behaviours that may challenge and go on all appropriate training to work within a residential environment.

Rewards

  • Salary - £20,000

  • We pay our staff £1.50 extra an hour for weekend enhancements.

  • Full time hours – 37.5 hrs per week.

  • Discretionary sick pay to be determined by the Managing Director.

  • Holiday entitlement is 28 days per year including 8 bank holidays

You will be expected to work over early mornings, evenings and weekends. This role can be flexible working hours.

Senior Support Worker - Adult LD

Senior support worker staff are an important part of White Leaf Support and provide hands on support to our service users whilst also providing a line management link between support staff and Team Leaders and taking on senior day to day responsibilities in our teams.

The post requires the responsibility of adhering to White Leaf’s Charter, values and Statement of Purpose. Senior support worker staff will provide emotional, education and physical support to service users and will act as a role model treating service users with respect, dignity and equality. You will also lead shifts, carry out daily and weekly checks and ensure staff are appropriately allocated during the day.

Requirements of the role:

  • Experience of acting in a senior role, as a role model or mentoring people.

  • H/S awareness and ability to carry out daily and weekly checks in and around the residence.

  • Awareness of infection control and COSHH-

  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Ability to complete in-house documents including reviews and key worker sessions.

  • Be able to demonstrate an interest in autism, mental health and supporting adults with learning disabilities.

  • Willingness to learn how to manage behaviours that may challenge and go on all appropriate training to work within a residential environment.

  • Ability to undertake daily living skills (cooking, budgeting, domestic duties) and impart these skills to others.

  • Willingness to support service users in a range of activities including work experience

White Leaf Support utilise a number of IT systems in order to fulfil our work processes and procedures. You will be fully inducted in how to use these as part of your robust induction into the organisation and role.

Support Worker - Adult LD

Supporting our service users with sensory, mental health and behavioural needs across our  service settings

The Role:

· Work responsibly with the identified and agreed service user support plans and risk assessments

· Ensure the safe administration and storage of medication

· Participate actively in regular supervision sessions with designated members of senior staff

· Liaise in a positive professional manner with external agencies, and families 

· Be proactive in working to organisational policies/procedures

· Support service users in all areas of personal care

· Support service users in structured activities in line with service user plans

· Recognise changes in service user’s physical, social and emotional well-being 

Promote a positive image of autism and learning disabilities

Salary:

  • Salary starting at £9.00 per hour - rising to £9.50 per hour after successfully passing the 6-month induction.

  • We pay our staff £1.50 extra an hour for weekend enhancements.

  • Full time hours – 37.5 hrs

  • Part time hours – 22.5 or more (we can be flexible).

  • Holiday entitlement is 28 days per year including 8 bank holidays

Join our bank

We need you!

We are looking for people to join our bank team on a zero hours contract so that we can call on you when we need to cover ad-hoc shifts for staff sickness, or holiday.

There may also be other types of leave which we will need to be able to call upon you at short notice to come and work in our services as a relief member of the team.

What we are looking for:

​You do not need experience, but this would be a bonus!

You need to be able to think on your feet and work with a variety of different people with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health diagnosis.
